Yesterday was a great day. I took the bus to Bran, where I visited the Castle that has fascinated people for over 100 years with the legend of Dracula, thanks to Bram Stoker. Vlad Tepes (Vlad Dracule, the Impaler) is a legend in these parts, because back in the 15th century he defended the region against the Turks (Ottomans). The castle is every bit as spectacular as I heard it was. I left a little installation in the castle...a footprint, if you will, of my visit there.
The most interesting aspects of the castle are all the little hidy-holes, doors that go nowhere, extra passages and little nooks and crannies that seem to have no purpose, but probably did at some point. It was a beautiful place, well preserved, and looked like a comfortable place to reside.
