The first time I strolled down the city streets in Bucharest I thought "Southie". I am in Southie! When I lived in South Boston I was grossed out by how disgusting animals can be. Dog poop all over the streets and sidewalks, and human spittle everywhere. You must walk with your head down, or else...

As I was walking in the better part of the city this morning, there was a little more care taken in the cleanliness of the area, so that shows there are folks who do care. I also noticed this chair holding a parking place. There are no driveways in South Boston and parking is always a problem. No one parks on the sidewalk (big fine there) but after a big snow, people will dig out their cars, then leave a lawn chair in the space all day, so that when they come home they can park in it again. Needless to say, there is a lot of civil unrest in Southie in the winter...
