The women in Bucharest are all very beautiful. Dark hair, dark eye beauties dressed in the latest fashions...even the older women can be seen walking down the street wearing fashionable high heeled boots.
Boots are the highest fashion accessory this fall, and since it has been so unseasonably warm, everyone is wearng them. From knee high to thigh high, boots are the biggest trend here in Romania. When the snow hits, though, I have been told that the practical warm winter boots are pulled out of the closet.
The men are not so pretty. I can't understand it. How can all the women be beautiful and not the men? Very curious. The older gents are polite and chivalrous, but the younger ones? They step right in front of you to get on the metro. You could be standing there, waiting, and they will cut you off..stand right in front of your face, so they can get on first! Extremely rude...hmmm, just like home!
I have mentioned before that the city is very dirty, however, there are parts that are very clean. Yet even in the dirtier sections, some women will be out at the crack of dawn washing the steps and sidewalks in front of their apartment buildings! It's a study in contrasts.
One thing I would like to mention too, is there is no danger of me sticking out like a foreign tourist. Everyday at least one person steps up to me to ask for directions. Go figure.
